Do you have an example for creating a leader such that it's annotative text is linked to the leader so that when the drawing is opened in AutoCAD, the leader behaves normally, i.e. the user can move the text and the leader will realign with the text. My attempts have failed to result in a proper AutoCAD leader that realigns when the text is moved. Thanks

Hi, Did you try the DxfMLeader example? - Wout

Hi, No, as I need a standard single simple leader. An Mleader seems like a bit overkill for my application which is only ever a single leader. Is there any way to get this working with a Leader? Some way to link a piece of text with a leader? Thanks

Hi Wout, My client doesn't want to use an MLeader as it requires managing another type of style (i.e. MLeaderStyle) in lieu of honoring an existing dimension style and it's overrides. Please confirm that it is not currently possible to create a standard leader that behaves as expected in AutoCAD and I will relay that to my client. Thanks

Hi, I've added a new example to the leader example in the documentation. You might need to update to the latest CadLib version, I fixed a bug in the DWG writing of extended data for AutoCAD 2007 and later files. The leader's dimension style overrides are stored in the extended data, so depending on if you use any dimension style overrides or not this might affect you. - Wout

Thanks Wout, that worked! On a side note, the example viewer doesn't display the leader correctly if the text is in the upper left quadrant with the leader pointing down and to the right with the HookLineDirection set to "Same"; the hook is not displayed. However, when saved to file and opened in AutoCAD it's fine. This is not a critical issue for me, just thought you might want to know. I have attached two images: one of how the viewer displays it and one of how AutoCAD displays it after saving to file. I'm using version 4.0.39.46. Thanks again for your help. Steve

Hi Steve, Great! I'm not going to look into the hookline if I can avoid it, it's pretty fiddly and fine tuning its appearance to 100% match AutoCAD will probably take me another day or more. Version .46 should be fine for the DWG extended data writing, I broke something in .50, and fixed that again in .57. - Wout
